Description An excellent body, medium texture with all the requirements for experimenting with this time-honored Japanese technique; low maturity, high porosity and the ability to withstand thermal shock.
Temperature Range Fires Between Cone 06-10, 1828-2345° F
Shrinkage Cone 05 - 6.4%, Cone 6 - 9.3%. Cone 10 - 9.3%
Absorption Cone 05 - 15.2%, Cone 6 - 5.4%, Cone 10 - 2.7%
Texture Very Coarse
Best Use Raku
Color Light Gray - Bisque, Smokey Black - Raku

We were forced to reformulate our Raku clay due to a talc mine closure in 2021. We are using our new talc-free formula in all boxes dated after 7/10/2022.
